National Jug Band Jubilee

We are thrilled to announce we’ll be performing at the 12th Annual National Jug Band Jubilee in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, September 17th, 2016. The Jubilee was founded and is still run by some of the folks that first introduced Clinton to jug band music when he was a kid growing up in northern Kentucky.

The trip will be very much a personal homecoming for Clinton but also a musical one for the band: Louisville bandleaders like Earl McDonald and Clifford Hayes were the first to record jug-blowing music in the 1920s. Needless to say, it is a terrific honor to be invited to play at the Jubilee in the great state of Kentucky: the state that gave us bourbon, fine horses, Abraham Lincoln, and William Ray Cyrus. Sadly, neither of these dignitaries will be joining us, but the headliner this year is the most excellent Dom Flemons of the Grammy-winning old time group The Carolina Chocolate Drops!

We will likely be adding shows around the Jubilee. If you know of any good venues or bands in Nashville or Birmingham, please do let us know!

Dancing with Rebecca Stout

We’ve been blessed with a ton of great guests joining us at the Black Cat Bar in recent months. Last week we were joined by Culver City’s very own Tennessee-born flatfoot dancer Rebecca Stout. We’ll be joining her again up at the Topanga Banjo & Fiddle Competition in a few weeks. Here she is doing her thing while we do ours.

Thrilled to get these videos of a fun night playing with a couple of folk legends!
